There are lots of great themes out there but installing them does not do anything, right? Wrong. You just need to install summerboard first:
- Install Summerboard from the system category of installer. This puts the SMBPrefs icon on your springboard.
- After you exit installer, actually reboot the phone.
- Now you can load SMBPrefs. Make sure that at the very bottom of the SMBPrefs screen it says “SummerBoard (Active). If it says (Inactive) you did not reboot.
- Use the Theme button and select the theme you want.
- Installing more themes from installer will allow them to show up in the Summerboard theme selection dir.
Other Summerboard Options:
- Theme Wallpaper – On uses wall paper in the theme. Off uses the wallpaper selected in the wallpaper settings of the iPhone’s settings screen
- Theme Status Bar – the Status bar is the top bar with the time, battery, carrier.
- Theme Icons – Uses the icons within the theme or not.
- Theme Dock – The dock is the bottom row of icons. This determines whether or not to use the dock in the theme or not.
- Wallpaper – Turn this on to use wallpaper. If off, you get normal black background.
- Dim wallpaper – This dims the background so the icons stand out more.
- Hide Icon Labels – Removes the names from the springboard icons.
- Hide Dock Labels -Removes the names from the icons on the dock.
Troubleshooting:
Themes won’t show up – This may be a permissions issue. Try this:
1) Install BossPrefs v1.61 or higher
2) Click “more” then click “fix user dir permissions”.
Summerboard is not active:
Reboot the phone. Complete power off and power on. Not a quick lock and unlock, not a respring.
Themes are not enabled:
Make sure all your switches are set to “ON”.
